Freightliner Southampton Terminal

From Southampton, we serve Barry Dock, Birmingham (including Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal), Cardiff, Coatbridge, Daventry, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester as well as an ad-hoc service to Bristol. The Maritime terminal is located within the port and utilises the highly efficient sprinter straddle carriers operated by DP World. It handles in excess of 290,000 containers a year. In 2012, the year which also saw Freightliner’s 40th anniversary of operations in Southampton, a £9M terminal enhancement scheme was implemented.
Two Liebherr rail mounted gantry cranes were erected and groundwork improvements made to enable a 14 lane span compared to the seven lanes that previously existed.  The Southampton terminal runs 15 trains daily and in excess of 430 wagons each way per day. All key destinations have more than one daily service, ensuring flexibility for our customers.
Our Southampton maintenance facility offers diesel and electric locomotive maintenance.
