Our VBS is live in all our terminals

Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) is investing in a focused technology transformation to improve our customer experience.

The efficient flow of trucks through the Freightliner rail and Pentalver truck terminals is a high priority for both haulier and rail productivity.

With the goal of reducing queue times and speeding truck turnaround times, G&W is implementing a Vehicle Booking System (VBS), which will be fully integrated into its technology portfolio.

The G&W VBS is built on the e-modal platform, the world’s largest VBS and Intermodal Cargo visibility platform, allowing G&W to proactively prepare for haulier arrivals and service trucks quickly and efficiently. Containers can be pre-selected, prepared and forward staged in advance, ready for haulier pickup.

Key stakeholders will benefit from real time cargo status visibility, and enhanced container movement security, all at a faster pace.

The introduction of VBS will be phased across our terminals one at a time, with the first terminal to benefit being Cardiff. Hauliers will be invited to register from the 17th May, with the first appointments being available to book before the go live date of 24th May.

Prior to this full training will be available as detailed below.

G&W has established a VBS Helpdesk to provide training for all hauliers. One-on-one training can be provided, and we can assist in the initial registration process.

Please visit www.vbs.gwrr.co.uk to register.

Full training material and videos are available on our website.

Please also review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document to help you understand how we intend to implement the system.
